As both a writer and a veteran-connected family member, these stories are personal to me. They’re not just about uniforms and ceremonies—they’re about the quiet moments at home, the values we pass on to our children, and the courage it takes to serve, whether on the frontlines or at the dinner table.

My mission is simple: to help kids and families understand the real meaning of service, sacrifice, loyalty, and love of country. Through relatable characters and honest storytelling, Soldier Mom opens the door to conversations about patriotism, duty, and family resilience.

When I’m not writing, I’m connecting with readers, creating social content that honors America’s service members, and building new stories to inspire the next generation.

Published the Fifth book in the Soldier Mom series, Loyalty means standing by others—even when it’s not easy. Loyalty isn’t just a word—it’s a choice shown through everyday actions. Inspired by military values, this heartfelt story helps young readers understand what it means to support friends, family, and community while doing what’s right.

Community & Purpose

- Built and expanded the Soldier Mom social media platform to connect with families, educators, and veteran supporters through inspiring, values-based content.

- Created patriotic storytelling, classroom resources, and parent-friendly educational materials that help children learn about honor, service, and American traditions.
- Led Memorial Day and Veterans Day digital campaigns, including Instagram story series and interactive activities designed to engage and support military-connected families.

Future Goals

- Continue expanding the Soldier Mom book series with new titles highlighting core values such as selfless service, respect, integrity, and courage.

- Produce a collection of animated Soldier Mom story shorts and launch a dedicated YouTube channel focused on character education and values for children.

- Build partnerships with schools, veteran organizations, and military family groups to bring Soldier Mom stories, lessons, and resources to wider audiences.
- Grow speaking engagements and author visits to connect directly with young readers, educators, and military families.

Lovely Words from Wonderful Readers

As a fellow retired Military member, I wish everyone knew what Memorial Day is meant to be. Kudos to Jodi Martin for making this subject easy to understand so the next generation can grow up knowing and respecting the sacrifice others have made.

I had never given much thought to Memorial Day. This simple book, written for children, has the history and meaning of this special day to honor those who died in service to our country through their military service. It is a wonderful reminder for both children and adults.

This book is absolutely perfect and adorable. The story is easy for all ages to understand the drawing are absolutely stunning and so incredibly inclusive. Ms. Martin was able to create an amazing story I wish was around when I deployed back in 2013. I would recommend to all working parents.

Alright, so I just read Soldier Mom: Memorial Day by Jodi Martin and, wow. This book is just... it's exactly what you'd hope it would be. It's so heartfelt and simple, but in the best way possible. It really got me thinking about all the families out there with a parent in the military, and how much they sacrifice, too.

Reading it made me feel a lot of things, you know? It’s a little sad, but mostly it's just so full of love and appreciation. It helps you see the bigger picture of what Memorial Day is really about, beyond just a day off. If you're looking for a way to connect with the meaning behind it all—especially if you want to share that with a younger person—this book is a must-read. It’s got a lot of soul.

We bought this book as a gift as we are a prior dual-military family with kids. It is a heartwarming memoir of the life of a military mom, written for kids. I wish I would have had this book as a child as reading this with my mom would been a core memory. It does a great job describing the dedication to family and service and helps it make sense for kids. Loved the book and illustrations - recommend.

Soldier Mom describes all the activities and feelings a mom in uniform goes through. The book really comes together with the cute illustrations bringing each activity to life. The reader learns that a Soldier Mom goes through the same feelings as many other parents, with the additional responsibility to defend our country.

Kudos to Jodi Martin for making such an accessible book for all levels of readers, and to David Sebast for his beautiful illustrations showing the interactions of many types of Soldier Moms and their children. This book is a great introduction for young children and older ones alike and is the perfect book for at home and in the classroom!
